Missions and Fuctions of the Airport Security

The mission of the Airport Security Police (PSA) is in charge of the airport security, understood as a specific dimension of public security, and it includes actions tending to protect and guarantee internal security in the airport jurisdiction, through prevention, conjuration and investigation of crimes and offences that are not provided in the Aeronautical Code. In this sense, it deals with:

PREVENTIVE AIRPORT SECURITY, which involves the planning, implementation, evaluation and/or coordination activities and operations in the tactical and strategic level, needed to prevent, avert and investigate crimes and breaches at the airport.

COMPLEX AIRPORT SECURITY, consisting of planning, implementing and / or coordinating activities and operations in the tactical and strategic level, needed to carry out the control and conjuration of the complex criminal acts committed by criminal organizations, related to drug trafficking, terrorism, smuggling and other related crimes.

Meanings:

PREVENTION, activities tending to prevent, avoid, hinder or limit the crimes and violations at the airport;

CONJURATION, those activities which aim to immediately neutralize or counteract crimes and breaches happening in airport area, stop them and prevent further consequences which infringe such security in the area;

INVESTIGATION, actions and operations tending to analyze and know the criminal facts and activities that were a threat to the airport security, without detriment to the jurisdictional responsibilities as an assistant in the crime prosecution.
