Argentina Airport Security Police
| The Argentina Airport Security Police (PSA) is the first police institution of federal character with civil management created from the return of Democracy in 1983.. On February 22, 2005, the National Executive, by Decree No. 145/2005, transferred -organic and functionally- the National Aeronautical Police from the Defence Department to the Department of the Interior, creating it as the Airport Security Police, at the same time it was incorporated to the Interior Security System. At present, the body depends on the Ministry of Internal Security in the Ministry of Justice, Security and Human Rights of the Nation. The decree also considered the civil intervention of the new police force, with the aim of restructuring and standardizing it. On May 31, 2006, the Legislature unanimously sanctioned Law 26.102 of the Airport Security, conceiving it as a specific and sensitive aspect for public safety. In this sense, the rule created a police force specialized in airport security, while it imposed the National Government the duty of safeguarding and guaranteeing it through public institutions and law enforcement, security, regulation and supervision agencies with competence in the field. On May 12, 2008, Decree 785/08, signed by President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, regulated Law 26.102 about Airport Security. |
